Our main focus is to develop joint projects in our schools which will habe positive impact on our pupils and the wider community. Our programmes will be practical and enjoyable for all the participants. Each school will be constantly aware that they are part of a European effort involving other schools.
We will work as a group to:
The project will involve 1550 pupils and 140 teachers from a range of social backgrounds. The 2 Northern Ireland schools are from an area which has experienced the worst of the troubles of the last 40 years. The schools range in size from 66 pupils to 400. Most of the pupils from the 5 schools are from a disadvantaged background while others from Finland and Germany are from a more affluent home. Pupils also range rural homes to those in less attractive city environments. A number of children are migrants, travellers, children in care and looked after children. A larger number are from 2 parent, stable homes. A small number are from 1 parent, stable homes. A small number are learning in second language. The schools involved see this opportunity as a means of broadening minds and extending experiences outside the immediate environment.
It is our aim to increase our pupils confidence, to open minds, to encourage tolerance and to increase their knowledge about the culture of others.
Each month we will send reports to our partner schools via email. All our targets will be included in the School Development Plan.
